The Emerald Towers The Emerald Towers
This page details the construction of my highest quality speakers to date, the Emerald Towers. I guarantee they are unlike anything you will find in the stores! These mark the start of my trend towards building uniquely shaped and styled loudspeakers.
The Emerald Titan The Emerald Titan
My latest creation stands as the most massive single loudspeaker I've ever built. Weighing in at around 130 pounds, this 15" subwoofer is certain to rattle your walls and produce output levels in excess of the THX specification all the way down to 11 Hz. If you have a CD or DVD which you suspect contains low frequencies that your puny speakers simply cannot reproduce, bring it over!
The Power Pots The Power Pots
I had a few goals in mind for these controversial looking speakers. Primarily, they had to be made strictly out of materials I had laying around my apartment. Secondarily, they had to be easy and quick to build. Finally, they had to fit on my desk at work. A co-worker of mine dubbed them the Power Pots, a rather catchy and appropriate designation, I think! Updated January 17th, 2004!
The Emerald Table The Emerald Table
I've been wanting a nice big table for my computer for many many years. I also wanted some decent speakers for the computer that took up little to no space on my desk. So, I made the ultimate combination, speakers built into the desk!

Adire Audio

This Seattle based loudspeaker company sells very high quality assembled loudspeakers, and also caters to the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) loudspeaker building crowd. Of particular note are their numerous super high excursion subwoofer drivers, which know no equal, even more so given their low prices! Founders Dan Wiggins and David Hyre are first class gentlemen, down to earth and scientific rather than the typical snake oil from some other high end loudspeaker manufacturers. For the DIY crowd, the Adire web site features more technical data, application suggestions, and design theory than any other loudspeaker manufacturer I've seen, and I have seen a LOT!
